I mean at first considering these 3 aspects..<\/p>\n<p>[private Premium|Premium-1year|theliving]<\/p>\n<p>1) <strong>V-Ray Light &#8220;Portal&#8221; mode:<br \/>\n<\/strong>This option &#8220;push&#8221; inside &#8220;the exterior light and especially produce diffuse shadows, which is impossible with only V-Ray Sky<\/p>\n<p>2)\u00c2\u00a0<strong>Color mapping Exponential<\/strong>:<br \/>\nBecause of the big difference (= too high contrast) from exterior and interior we have to use Exponential Color Mapping, so we can avoid strong overexposures on the curtains<\/p>\n<p>3)\u00c2\u00a0<strong>Shutter speed 1\/50:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe quantity of light in the daily-interior is usually classifed as &#8220;average&#8221;, so we can start increasing the time of exposure by setting Shutter Speed 1\/50\u00c2\u00a0 (default value is 1\/200 which is perfect for daily-exteriors)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Shot and Light Balance (steps 1-2)<\/h2>\n<p>In this video I explain you some aspect of this shot (composition=step1), and I complete the Light Balnce(step2) by usgin V-Ray Light Portals:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/48897185\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"950\" height=\"534\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>CONCEPTS<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/index.php\/2011\/07\/05\/rule-of-thirds-3ds-max.htm\" target=\"_blank\">The Rule of Thirds \/ composition<\/a><\/li>\n<li>In this kind of scene we just have diffuse lights = no hiearchy;<\/li>\n<li>Natural and diffuse light in interior can be easily simulated with a V-Ray Light Portal;<\/li>\n<li>Correct position for the &#8220;portal&#8221; is 30-40 cm outdoor;<\/li>\n<li>SIMPLE option is useful to bypass any object between the portal and the exterior;<\/li>\n<li>With SIMPLE option we can put a portal light in the interior, close to the curtains;<\/li>\n<li>Portal Light with &#8220;Simple&#8221; produce less noise than without simple;<\/li>\n<li>We can use HSV Exponential to avoid overexposures, preserving the sky nuances.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>\u00c2\u00a0<strong>Nota<\/strong>: to have a general idea about the quantity of light in different situations we can keep in mind this:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daily Exterior<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0&gt; good light &gt; shutter speed = 200 (valore default)<br \/>\n<strong>Daily Intyerior &gt;<\/strong>average ligth &gt; shutter speed = 50<br \/>\n<strong>Night Int\/Ext &gt; <\/strong>low light &gt;shutter speed = 10<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This sequence 200-50-10 is approximate, but allows us to be immediately on the right way because these values are fairly coherent with the real world. Of course, the succession 200-50-10 is valid for \u00c2\u00a0<em>f<\/em> = 8 (default) and ISO = 100 (default).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Always use &#8220;Skylight Portal&#8221; at the apertures!<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>&#8220;regular&#8221; V-Ray Light<\/strong> is the equivalent of a physical\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/bank-light.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox\">BANK LIGHT (click to see it)<\/a><br \/>\nThe <strong>&#8220;portal&#8221; V-Ray Light<\/strong> is a sort of symbol. He tells to V-Ray to bring inside light and especially shadows produced by the sky.<\/p>\n<p>If you put a regular V-Ray Light out of the aperture you&#8217;re just putting a Bank Light out of your window!
