How are you today? \ud83d\ude42<br \/>\nI&#8217;m going to talk about <strong>VRay Fur<\/strong> and the new\u00c2\u00a0 <strong>VRay Hair<\/strong> <strong>Material<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>I want to show you how to create a shader very similar to the wonderful <strong>Sullivan<\/strong>&#8216;s fur in the movie <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0198781\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Monsters, Inc.<\/strong><\/a> (Pixar):<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/turus-monster.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1875\" title=\"turus-monster-icon\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/turus-monster-icon.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/turus-monster-icon.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/turus-monster-icon-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n* <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">VRAY-HAIR-MTL &gt; V-RAY version 2.20 (minimum) required\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>*<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Do you want to know more about? \ud83d\ude09<\/h2>\n<p>Although it may seem complex and only for <em>super-nerd-experts<\/em>&#8230; this result is really simple to achieve and you can create a lot of nice objects with <strong>Monsters&amp;Co look<\/strong> after this little tutorial! Your friends and your colleagues will admire you I&#8217;m sure!<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re a boy, your girl friends will love you on facebook&#8230; if you are a girl.. mhhh.. let me know! \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ok, enought taking.. Lets&#8217; start.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/monster-start.zip\"><strong>START<\/strong><\/a> scene just include a V-Ray Sun, basic settings for Global illumination and a Torus Knot whith some genetic modification! Nothing new, nothing special until now. If you just click render you&#8217;ll get someting like this:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/start-render.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1878\" title=\"start-render-icon\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/start-render-icon.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/start-render-icon.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/start-render-icon-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At first<strong> Select the TorusKnot object<\/strong>, then go to &gt; Create &gt; VRay &gt;<strong> click on<\/strong> <strong>VRayFur.<\/strong><br \/>\nYou&#8217;ll see something like this in your viewport:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1880\" title=\"fru-applied\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/fru-applied.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/fru-applied.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/fru-applied-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s adjust some parameter of <strong>VRayFur<\/strong> (check the commentaries!):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lenght: 14cm<\/li>\n<li>Thikness: 0,1 cm<\/li>\n<li>Taper: 1,0<\/li>\n<li>Knots: decrease to 6 (reduce the segment of a single hair to save memory)<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Per Area&#8221;: increase to 8,0 (take care with option!
