Use these lights to shape the furniture in darkness, but don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t delete or fade the other shadows.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Think about<\/strong><\/span>: the whole scene is built of shadows. The shadows have the power to enhance the object in the scene, which means that you can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t put a light without thinking how your light will affect the whole scene and other shadows. Use localized spot lights, use a limited &#8220;light cone&#8221; and find the right angle which allows you to get the best shadows for your object.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>LIGHT BALANCE CONCEPT.<\/h2>\n<p><strong>FIRST LIGHT<\/strong>: Just create a <strong>V-Ray Sun<\/strong> and accept the default <strong>V-Ray Sky<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG2-sun.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox2\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1573\" title=\"IMG2-sun-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG2-sun-thumb.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"599\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG2-sun-thumb.jpg 599w, https:\/\/www.cg-blog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG2-sun-thumb-300x120.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To get this exposure use V-Ray Physical camera:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>f = 8 (default)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shutter speed = 20<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>ISO = 100 (default)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sun + Sky is the strongest light in the scene and this could be the first problem, we can get a\u00c2\u00a0 bad overexposure on the furniture on the right.<\/p>\n<p>A very common tip for (real) photographers to limit the incredible strongess of the sun is using a curtain. The curtain limits the sun and also cover the exteriors which in this case is completely overexposed, not beautiful to see in a picture.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately the overexposure on the curtain is impossible to avoid, but don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t worry about it because we will solve this problem in post production with a smart technique called \u00e2\u20ac\u0153<strong>sandwiching<\/strong>\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (step5)<\/p>\n<p>( For the curtain we created a <strong>VRray2Sided Material<\/strong>. All the scene has a generic material applied except for the curtain. Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t think about this special material, for now just focus only on the light balance, you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll find the explaination of curtain material in the next lesson about materials (step 3). We will be careful not to delete the beautiful shadows we got with Sun+Sky+VRayLight. In the next step, when we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll assign the V-Ray Materials this balance will be constant. Exposure can change, balancing can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t. I can assure you if you complete perfectly this step, if your lights and shadows create a really \u00e2\u20ac\u0153tridimensional\u00e2\u20ac\u009d image,\u00c2\u00a0 the final image success is guaranteed..<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c2\u00ab Light balance is the most important step in the process, it is the foundations of our render<\/strong>. \u00c2\u00bb<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Common mistake<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>We only have few rules to respect:<br \/>\n<strong>Create a hierarchy &#8211; Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t cross the lights &#8211; Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t delete\/duplicate the shadows<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore I want to give you an example of this mistake: I run the spot1 to lights up the shadows of the VRayLight, in other words I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m deleting the shadows from VRayLight.
